Animal Aromatics

Amanda is a fully qualified practioner in Zoopharmacognosy. She trained with Caroline Ingraham who is the pionere of this therapy. Amanda has ten years experience of treating Animals ranging from Guineapigs, Chickens, Dogs, Cats, Sheep, Cows, Horses and even Alpaca.

Animal Aromatics or to use its scientific name Zoopharmacognosy, is where an animal selects aromatic plant extracts, algae, clay, and other naural remedies for health and maintenance.

Plants, and the volatile oils found within them, were at one time the only medicine on this planet, utilised for the survival of the species and employed by mammals since the dawn of time. It is not an alternative or complementary therapy of recent years; it is the oldest therapy known to man. The practice of Animal Aromatics gives Animals the opportunity to look after their own health as they would in the wild.

Through evolution mammals have developed a relationship with medicinal plants, aquiring a tast for them when they are needed. Given the opportunity animals will use their inate ability to select remedies that are needed and guide their own dosage. It is this innate knowing that is the key to their healing.

Animal Aromatic therapy allows the animal to self medicate, thereby returning some autonomy back into the animals life whilst at the same time building up a great trust between the animal and its primary carer.

Amanda is also a qualified energy healer, crystal healing for animals therapist and Equine massage therapist. Utilising one or a combination of these therapies allows for a holistic approach to Animal health.
